Ted Li's arrival-pier check

Staying at Laemtong Beach? Check the arrival pier before you book.

Phi Phi has more than one passenger landing point. A boat ticket can show the correct island while still leaving you at the wrong pier for your hotel.

Direct answer

If your hotel is in the Laemtong area on the north side of Phi Phi, select a boat with Laemtong as the confirmed drop-off. A ticket to Tonsai Pier is not the same transfer.

From Tonsai, a separate private boat may be required. Local quotes can reach 2,000 THB and are not included in the original ticket.
How I check the booking

โ€œWhen I check a Phi Phi booking, I start with the hotel name, not the boat time. If the hotel is at Laemtong, the ticket needs a Laemtong drop-off. A convenient departure to Tonsai does not fix the transfer at the other end.โ€

The Complete Guide to Rassada Pier Terminal (2026)

Rassada Pier is the principal maritime gateway of Phuket and the busiest hub for island-hopping. Whether you are catching a ferry boat or a speedboat to Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, or Krabi, this terminal is your starting point.

To help you prepare for your trip, here is everything you need to know about navigating the Rassada Pier passenger terminal.

๐Ÿข Inside the Terminal: Facilities & Amenities

The main terminal building is designed to handle thousands of passengers daily. Inside, you will find all the essential amenities to make your wait comfortable:

  • Food & Beverages: No need to board the boat hungry. The terminal features several small convenience stores, local food stalls, and coffee kiosks where you can grab a quick breakfast, snacks, and cold drinks before your departure.
  • Luggage Storage: Don't want to drag your heavy bags around? There is a baggage storage service located right at the terminal. Rates are 100 THB per day for small-to-medium bags, and 150 THB per day for oversized luggage.
  • Waiting Lounges: The terminal provides ample seating in a covered, open-air waiting area where you can relax before your departure.
  • Essential Services: You will also find clean public restrooms, ATMs, currency exchange counters, and a dedicated prayer room.

๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ Rassada Pier Parking Information

If you are renting a car or riding a motorbike in Phuket, driving to the pier is highly convenient.

  • Short-term & Overnight Parking: The pier offers spacious, secure parking facilities right next to the terminal building.
  • Parking Fees: Parking rates are very affordable. Expect to pay around 100 - 200 THB per night for cars if you plan to leave your vehicle while visiting the islands. Hourly rates are also available for drop-offs.

๐Ÿ“ Rassada Pier Check-in: Step-by-Step Guide

Exactly what to do when you arrive at the terminal to board your boat.

๐Ÿ’ก Pro Tip: Skip the Ticket Line
Walk-in ticket queues can be long and chaotic. By pre-booking online, you completely bypass the purchasing line and head directly to the fast-track check-in desk shown above.

  1. 1

    Arrive 45 Minutes Early

Head inside the main terminal building. Do not stop for the outdoor touts. Proceed directly into the main passenger hall.

  2. 2

    Locate Your Counter

Look for the numbered booths (such as Counter No. 2). Present your digital e-ticket on your smartphone to our staff. No paper printouts are required.

  3. 3

    Receive Your Boarding Sticker

Our team will verify your reservation and hand you a colored sticker. Place this sticker visibly on your shirt. This color code tells the pier staff exactly which boat and destination you are assigned to.

  4. 4

    Wait for the Boarding Call

Relax in the waiting area. When your departure time approaches, staff will announce your sticker color to guide you through the gates and onto your specific vessel.

Rassada Pier visual reference

What these two pictures actually confirm.

I keep these two references together because passengers often use one to ask about the other. The terminal photo helps with arrival. The fare board helps with comparison. I still check the selected date before confirming a departure.

Terminal recognition On-site reference
Rassada Pier passenger terminal building in Phuket with passengers waiting outside, 2026

Recognise the Rassada Pier Terminal before thinking about the boat time.

This is the main passenger building at Rassada Pier. On busy mornings, several departures can be checking in at the same time. I highly recommend arriving inside the terminal 30 to 45 minutes before departure. Reaching the building at the time printed on the ticket is already late.

Fare interpretation Date-sensitive
Reference fare board for ferry and speedboat tickets from Rassada Pier to Phi Phi, Lanta, Ao Nang and Railay, 2026

Read the fare together with the destination pier.

I use this board to compare the usual ticket categories. I do not use the picture to promise a seat or a final fare. Before confirming, I check the travel date, destination pier, ferry or speedboat, adult and child conditions, and remaining seats. Tonsai and Laemtong are both on Phi Phi, but they are different arrivals.

๐Ÿš How to Get to Rassada Pier

Rassada Pier is located 35km from Phuket Airport (60-90 min drive) and 20km from Patong Beach (45 min drive). Located on the eastern side of Phuket Town, it is centrally situated but requires proper travel timing due to local traffic.

  • From Phuket Old Town: Only a 10 to 15-minute drive.
  • From West Coast Beaches (Patong, Kata, Karon): Approximately 45 to 60 minutes.
  • From Phuket International Airport: Allow 60 to 90 minutes for the drive, depending on traffic.
  • Pro Tip for Morning Departures: If you are catching the 08:30 AM ferry, be aware of Phuket's morning rush hour traffic. Always add extra buffer time to your travel estimate so you do not miss your boat!

Can the Phuket EV Bus take me to Rassada Pier?

Direct answer Yes. Route 3 serves Rassada Pier.

I checked the published Route 3 information on 10 September 2026. It lists Rassada Pier on the green line and a 15 THB full-route fare. That confirms the route and fare, but not whether a particular bus gives enough time for ferry check-in.

My check-in margin
Inside the terminal 30โ€“45 min before departure

When someone asks me whether the EV Bus will work, I start with the ferry departure and count backwards. I want the passenger inside the terminal 30 to 45 minutes before the boat leaves. Then I compare the current bus timing. If that margin disappears, I would use a taxi or ride-hailing car instead.

โ€œI do not match a bus to a boat by price. I match it by the time the passenger will actually reach the terminal.โ€

What is the Phuket Ferry Timetable to Phi Phi Island?

Ferries and speedboats depart daily from Rassada Pier. The standard morning schedule starts at 08:30, and the afternoon schedule is at 13:30. We recommend checking live availability on our booking system for real-time updates and seasonal changes.

How much is a boat ticket from Rassada Pier to Phi Phi?

Prices typically start from 650 - 1,400 THB for the Standard Ferry and 900 - 1,250 THB for the Speedboat.

Should I book tickets online or buy them at the pier?

We highly recommend booking online in advance for the following reasons:

  • Guaranteed Seats: Tickets frequently sell out year-round, even during the Low Season. Do not assume availability for walk-ins.
  • Lower Pricing: Online advance rates are more economical than standard counter prices.
  • Fast-Track Check-in: Simply show your Mobile E-Ticket on your phone to skip the long ticket-purchase queues.
What is the difference between the Ferry and Speedboat?
  • Standard Ferry: More stable in waves, features air-conditioned cabins and sun decks, and is more budget-friendly. The journey takes about 2 hours.
  • Speedboat: Much faster, reaching the destination in approximately 60 minutes. However, the ride can be bumpy and is not recommended for certain passengers.

๐Ÿš— Getting There & Check-in

How early should I arrive at Rassada Pier?

Please arrive at least 30 - 45 minutes before your departure. This ensures you have enough time to check in, receive your boarding sticker, and load luggage. Note that boarding gates typically close 15 minutes before departure.

What happens if I miss the boat?

Vessels depart strictly on schedule. If you arrive late, it is recorded as a "No Show." For Saver and Standard tickets, your booking becomes invalid and non-refundable. You will be required to purchase a new ticket for the next available service, subject to availability.

How far is Phuket Airport from Rassada Pier?

The distance is roughly 30-35 km, taking 60 - 90 minutes by car depending on traffic. We highly recommend booking our Private Vehicle Transfer + Ferry combo to ensure a seamless connection without the stress of hailing a taxi.

Is there parking at Rassada Pier?

Yes, secure parking buildings and outdoor lots are available. The fee is approximately 100 THB per day, and overnight parking is permitted.

Do I need to print my ticket?

No. You can simply show the Mobile Voucher (E-Ticket) on your smartphone along with your Passport or ID card to the staff at the check-in counter.

Where is Rassada Pier located?

Rassada Pier is located on the east side of Phuket Town, just a 10-15 minute drive from Phuket Old Town. You can easily find it on Google Maps by searching for "Rassada Pier".

๐Ÿ๏ธ Routes & Rules

Can I travel to Koh Lanta or Krabi from Rassada Pier?
Yes, services run year-round.
  • Koh Lanta: Speedboats depart daily at 08:30 (approx. 1h 30m).
  • Ferry: Departs daily at 08:30 and arrives at Saladan Pier (Koh Lanta) at 12:30.
  • Ao Nang/Railay: The Standard Ferry departs daily at 08:30 (approx. 3 hours). Please note that direct Speedboat services to Krabi are typically High Season only.
Can I take my car to Phi Phi Island from Rassada Pier?

No. The vessels operating from Rassada Pier are passenger ferries only. There are no car ferries to Phi Phi Island, as the island does not have roads for private cars.

Are pets and luggage allowed?

Pets: Generally allowed on large ferries if kept in a cage/bag and wearing a muzzle. They must stay in designated outdoor areas (Sundecks).

Luggage: Passengers are allowed one suitcase and one carry-on (combined max weight of 25 kg). Excess weight may incur additional fees payable directly to the operator at check-in.

๐Ÿ’ก Facilities & Policies

Are there ATMs or restaurants at the pier?

Yes, there are ATMs, a coffee shop, a minimart, and small food stalls available at the terminal. However, we recommend bringing some cash for your time on the island.

Is the speedboat safe for pregnant women or infants?

Speedboats are not recommended for pregnant women, infants (under 1 year), or elderly passengers with back problems. We strongly advise choosing the Standard Ferry for a smoother, safer, and more stable journey.

Can I cancel my booking and get a refund?

All bookings are non-refundable. However, we offer an Extended Validity period of up to 180 days from your original travel date. To qualify for this extension, you must notify us at least 2 days in advance. Failure to provide this notice results in a "No Show," and the ticket will be forfeited.

Do ferries run during the monsoon season?

Large ferries operate year-round, even in light rain. While extreme weather may cause safety postponements, large ferries are rarely cancelled. Speedboats, however, may be rescheduled to the next available departure or transferred to a large ferry at no additional cost due to rough sea conditions. Please note: If the standard ferry is operating normally but you choose not to travel for personal reasons at the pier, tickets are strictly non-refundable.
